Cappadocia is reached through two small airports rather than one: Kayseri Erkilet (ASR), about an hour and a quarter east, and Nevsehir Kapadokya (NAV), closer to the north-west. Both are modest domestic terminals where the practical reality is a pre-booked shuttle to Goreme, Urgup, Uchisar or Ortahisar, matched to your flight and liable to change if you land late. Neither is a place to shop for a tourist SIM with any confidence — the retail is limited and Turkish lines are registered against your passport. The other pressure point is uniquely local: hot-air balloon operators confirm or cancel flights before dawn depending on wind, and that message arrives by app or phone at around four in the morning. Being reachable matters. Hotel Wi-Fi in Goreme is generally good, though thick rock walls in cave rooms block it in places, which is worth checking on arrival if you are expecting a pre-dawn call.
