Pokhara now has its own international airport (PKR) on the eastern edge of town, and many travellers still arrive on domestic hops from Kathmandu or on the long tourist coach along the Prithvi Highway. Neither route delivers you to a well-stocked SIM counter: the airport is small and its shops keep short hours, while the bus park at the end of a seven-hour road day is the last place you want to be filling in a registration form with your passport.

Getting to Lakeside is a short taxi ride, and inDrive and Pathao both operate here, though the driver pool is thinner than in the capital so a phone call or a live map often matters more than the app itself. Ridge viewpoints such as Sarangkot and the World Peace Pagoda keep a good line of sight to town and often hold signal better than the lakeshore. The picture changes fast on the Annapurna side: Ghandruk, Ghorepani and Chomrong have towers and you will get bars in the villages, but the trail between them, the gorges above Nayapul and anywhere behind a ridge go quiet for long stretches.

Download offline maps for the whole Annapurna foothills before you leave Lakeside, including the trekking route names, since paper maps and signage are inconsistent once you are past Nayapul. Keep data available for permit checks, guesthouse bookings and the airline apps, because domestic flights in and out of Pokhara shift with the weather. Lakeside cafe Wi-Fi is friendly but shared and slow at sunset, so a hotspot from your phone is usually the quicker option for a laptop. On a trekking day, power is the real constraint rather than signal: guesthouse charging is limited, so bring a decent power bank and keep the phone in flight mode between checkpoints.
