Sharm El Sheikh International (SSH) sits on a plateau above the town, and the run down to Naama Bay, Nabq or the Old Market takes fifteen to forty minutes depending on which stretch of the coast your hotel occupies. Arrivals here come in charter waves, and the practical friction is the same each time: matching yourself to the right transfer, or agreeing a taxi fare, in a crowded forecourt. Tourist SIMs are sold from operator desks with passport registration, which adds a queue at exactly the wrong moment. An eSIM already installed over home Wi-Fi does none of that — it waits inactive in the phone and registers on an Egyptian network the first time the handset searches after landing, starting its validity there.
