Toronto Pearson (YYZ) works through Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, linked by the LINK train, and some domestic and US flights use Billy Bishop (YTZ) on the island downtown, reached by a pedestrian tunnel. Canadian prepaid plans bought at an airport counter are slow, and the retail hours will not match a late arrival. An eSIM installed at home on Wi-Fi is the practical answer: it stays inactive until your phone registers on a Canadian network after landing, and the validity period begins at that first connection.

From Terminal 1 the UP Express runs to Union Station in about twenty-five minutes, stopping at Bloor and Weston, and it is far more predictable than the Gardiner Expressway at rush hour. Uber and Lyft both operate in Toronto, with designated pickup zones rather than kerbside. TTC subway stations carry mobile coverage, as do large parts of the tunnel network, though expect the occasional gap between stops.

Congestion appears around the arena districts on event nights and at Union Station during commuter peaks. Day trips are well served on the main corridors: Niagara Falls, Hamilton and the Niagara wine region all have good signal. It thins in Muskoka cottage country and, most obviously, in Algonquin Park, where you should plan to be offline.

Café and hotel Wi-Fi downtown is good, and the PATH network and libraries offer access too. Hotspot from your phone works on most plans for a laptop. Two local notes: in deep winter, cold drains a phone battery unusually quickly, so keep the handset in an inside pocket and carry a power bank. And if you drive towards Niagara, the US border is close, so watch that your phone does not register on an American network.
