Aruba sits far enough south to stay outside the main hurricane belt, which is why so much of its visitor traffic is repeat business: the same families returning to Palm Beach and Eagle Beach each year, plus cruise calls into Oranjestad. Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA) is a short drive from the hotel strip, and United States pre-clearance means the departures side runs on a tight schedule you will want to track on your phone. On the ground, the island is small and easy to drive, and most of the good parts — Arikok National Park, the natural pool, the Baby Beach end — are places you reach by rental jeep with a map open.
