Best eSIM for Denmark

Denmark is a card-and-app country, and visitors notice how much of the day runs through the phone. You buy train tickets to Roskilde in an app, unlock a city bike, check whether the Copenhagen harbour bus is running, and read a museum's Danish-only sign through a translation camera. Copenhagen Airport (CPH) at Kastrup has shops selling local SIMs, but you are eight minutes from the city centre by Metro and most people would rather just go. Installing a travel eSIM before departure means the phone is on a Danish network as you tap through the barriers, while your home number stays active for the card verification your bank will ask for.

Most Denmark trips are short — three to six days, usually Copenhagen with perhaps Aarhus, Odense or Billund attached — and data use is moderate: transport apps, maps, photographs, some streaming. A small or mid-sized plan is the right fit. TDC/YouSee, Telenor, Telia and 3 all run 5G widely, and Denmark is one of the places where a 5G-capable plan genuinely shows its worth. Two scope points matter. A Denmark plan does not cover Greenland or the Faroe Islands, which are separate. Denmark's networks are TDC with its YouSee brand, Telenor, Telia and 3, and your eSIM connects to a partner and takes the strongest 4G or 5G signal. Coverage is close to complete: the country is flat and compact, the Copenhagen Metro carries signal throughout its driverless tunnels, and the DSB lines across Zealand, Funen and Jutland stay connected, including on the Great Belt crossing. The thinnest spots are the smaller North Sea islands, parts of the Wadden Sea coast and some of the longest bridge and tunnel spans.

2. iPhone on iOS 17.4 or later: tap the install link and confirm. Older iOS: Settings › Mobile Data › Add eSIM, then scan.
3. Android: Settings › Connections or Network › SIM manager › Add eSIM › scan the QR code.
4. Rename the profile Denmark so it is obvious which line you are using.
5. Switch Data Roaming on for the eSIM line and mobile data off on your home SIM.
6. Select the eSIM as your data line after landing — it normally registers before you reach the Metro platform beneath Terminal 3 at Kastrup.
7. Validity begins at that first Danish connection, not at purchase.

Install a few days early at home on Wi-Fi, then leave the line off until you land. The plan only starts when the eSIM first connects in Denmark. If you are arriving over the Øresund Bridge from Malmö, or by train from Hamburg, keep it disabled until you are on the Danish side so the plan does not open on a Swedish or German network.
