Manas International Airport (FRU) lies about 25 kilometres north-west of Bishkek, and a great many flights arrive in the small hours, which is when the SIM counters are least likely to be staffed and the taxi touts most likely to be persuasive. Beeline and MegaCom lead a small operator market, and Bishkek runs on solid 4G across the central grid, Osh bazaar and the university district. Treat 5G as absent from your planning; LTE is what you will use, and it is fast enough for a traveller.

There is no metro, so coverage is straightforward at street level. The interesting part of Kyrgyzstan is what happens once you leave the capital, and it changes fast. The road to Ala Archa national park keeps signal to the gate and then fades in the gorge; the highway east is covered as far as Cholpon-Ata and Karakol; and the high passes, jailoo pastures and Song-Kul plateau have no service for hours at a time.
