Very little of Mauritania is not desert. Trips here run between Nouakchott on the Atlantic coast, the Adrar plateau around Atar and Chinguetti, the birdlife of the Banc d'Arguin, and for a certain kind of traveller the long iron-ore train down to Nouadhibou.
